      Pomegranate juice or cherry juice – These offer a beautiful tart-sweet balance that complements the cherries without the alcohol. Just add a splash of vinegar (like balsamic or red wine vinegar) to mimic the acidity of wine.

      Chicken or beef broth – Works in a pinch, especially if you reduce it a bit and add a teaspoon of balsamic for depth.

      Red wine vinegar + water or broth – Use 1 part vinegar to 2–3 parts liquid to soften the tang.

      The sauce will still be rich and flavorful—it may just lean slightly more sweet or tangy depending on what you use. Don’t worry, it’ll still pair beautifully with the duck!
