About Southern Soil Sunshine
I learned the garden is not asking us to be limitless.
I am Sanda: gardener, educator, pastor’s wife, and a woman formed by soil long before I had language for why the garden could feel like sanctuary.
In Romania, gardening was not aesthetic. It was provision. I watched my parents work the ground with endurance, and I learned early that the land has limits, timing, and needs that cannot be argued with.
Years later, in the pressure of work, ministry, family, and trying to hold too much together, the garden became a place where I could stop performing. It taught me to notice before fixing. To work with a season instead of fighting it. To accept that faithfulness is often small, concrete, and ordinary.
