Base:
- 1 cup 2 sticks / 225 g unsalted butter, softened
Fresh Herbs (finely chopped):
- 2 Tbsp parsley
- 2 Tbsp chives
- 1 Tbsp dill
- 1 Tbsp basil
- 1 tsp thyme leaves
Flavor Additions:
- 1 clove garlic minced (optional)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Zest of 1/2 lemon optional, for brightness
- Extra chopped herbs for rolling
Place the softened butter in a mixing bowl. Add the chopped herbs, garlic (if using), salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
Mash together with a fork or beat with a hand mixer until well combined and fluffy. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Spoon the mixture onto a sheet of parchment. Roll into a log and twist the ends to seal. Roll in extra chopped herbs for a beautiful finish if you like.
Chill in the refrigerator 30 minutes, until firm. Slice into rounds as needed.
