Spiced Cranberry-Orange Chutney

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups fresh or frozen cranberries 300 g
  • 1 medium orange, zested and juiced
  • ½ cup brown sugar 100 g; adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup 30 mL
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger or ½ tsp ground
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped dried apricots or raisins for texture 35 g

Instructions
 

Simmer

  • In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, zest, sugar, honey, ginger, and spices.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer 15–20 minutes , stirring occasionally.
  • The cranberries will burst and the mixture will thicken.

Finish

  • Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as desired.
  • Stir in dried fruit if using; cook 2–3 minutes more.
  • Remove from heat and let cool completely — chutney will continue to thicken as it sets.
